Newington Green: A Village Through Time… December 5 @ 11:00 - 13:00 In 2008, Alex Allardyce titled his history of Newington Green: ‘The Village That Changed the World’. Hyperbole? Maybe! But this small corner of North-east London has certainly been home to some remarkable figures and events over the centuries. Sitting on what is now the Islington/Hackney border at one time it was a place people came to so as NOT to be noticed – whether it was a Tudor King visiting his mistresses or religious and political dissenters concealing their views from the authorities.
