This talk looks at the development and expansion of Warlingham Park Hospital, the psychiatric hospital for what was then the Borough of Croydon. Opened in 1903 as 'Croydon Mental Hospital', Warlingham Park attempted to provide up to date and cutting edge medical care for Croydon, including introducing specialist alcohol and addictions units, and adopting the first psychiatric social workers to offer care in the community in the early 1950s.
