Before Caliban and the Witch , before her landmark work on social reproduction, primitive accumulation, and feminist anti-capitalist struggle, Silvia Federici wrote a study of György Lukács, realism, and Marxist aesthetics. This seminar marks the publication of Federici’s previously unpublished PhD dissertation, The Development of Lukács’ Realism . Written in 1980, the text offers a fascinating early glimpse of Federici as a philosopher working through questions of art, form, consciousness, history, and capitalist modernity.
