On Friday, 20 November 2026, BGA members are invited to a dress rehearsal of Richard Strauss’ Capriccio at the Royal Academy of Music. Dr Christopher White, Head of Royal Academy Opera, will set the stage for us by setting out the parameters of the opera and its place in the German cultural story before watching the rehearsal. The talk will begin at 4.30pm, followed by the dress rehearsal at 6pm. Capriccio, Richard Strauss’ final opera, is an astonishing mix of technical ambition and cultural escapism.
